I'm just trying to wrap my head around the overall picture. Any help is much appreciated as even with all the research there are missing pieces.

Steps are to first grow phytoplankton, then rotifers. You can then trap clownfish larvae and feed them rotifers which you have fed phyto.

I was looking at Reed Mariculture for most of the supplies. Is there a Canadian supplier too? As for capturing the larvae I was going to go with the Vossen Larvae Trap.

Just getting all the pieces organized and ordered so that I can start in a month or so. My mated clowns have been together for 7 years. Looking forward to this.

Thanks. Steve

you can grow phyto if you wish but you don't really have to.you can keep an algae blend instead.i find that much easier but price tag is a little more.
I always have rotifiers on hand which I sell at a decent price, you would want to get rotifier culture going before you start catching larva.
a trap is good but how many batches do you plan on raising. might just not be worth it.i have a trap but don't always use it.
what kind of clowns do you have?

I been buying Reed Maricultured live rotifer(L) strain for baby larvare and RG Completed to feed the rotifers .1 millon rotifer and 2 bottle of Rg would cost you about $250.00 cdn including shipping .I made a desiciion to spent this money because i have 2 breeding pairs One million rotifers will produces a lot of rotifers and lasted about 5 to 6 months .Some rotifer cultured sometimes crash or goes bad .all in al it lasted about 5 to 6 monthsfor me .Reed Mar. rotifer are very clean I have great success using it .I am sure other local seller sell good clean rotifers as well .The key to successful raising larvae babies is good clean healthy rotifers and good CLEAN water from the parents main tank.
